Deciding on whether to work the holidays or not…

As we are approaching the holiday season, it is very important to understand what your facility may require of you a s a travel nurse or allied traveler. Also, understanding how your AGENCY is going to pay you for those holiday hours is also critical when deciding on your consideration.

Holiday hours can be handled in different ways depending on whether you are travel nursing or working at your permanent job. There is also the option of travel nurses not taking any holiday shifts, if that's what they prefer. It may seem like a lot to juggle but it will all pay off in the end, if approached correctly.

As travel nurses, we can expect to work extra hours during the holiday season. We know that this is what we signed up for and it's just part of our job as travel nurses. That being said, agencies and facilities will offer travel nurse incentives to work those holidays and travel nurse bonuses if possible or allowed by their agency and by their facility.

Communication is always key, so ASK your agency what their pay policy is and know exactly how you are going to be paid before you commit.
